BIM is the core element of construction innovation, and qualified BIM personnel is one of the key drivers of BIM adoption in the local construction industry. The CIC BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes ensure the provision of competent and qualified BIM practitioners to uphold the standard of BIM implementation in the industry, and also motivate a wide adoption of BIM in Hong Kong.

With reference to Development Bureau Technical Circular (Works) No. 12/2020 issued on 23 December 2020

(a) A BIM Team Leader shall be a CIC-Certified BIM Manager (CCBM) with effect from 1 July 2021 for all technical & fee proposals of consultancy agreements or construction works tenders to be invited on or after 1 January 2021. (b) A BIM Coordinator shall be a CIC-Certified BIM Coordinator (CCBC) or have qualifications as specified.
