Include BIM Models as Part of Tender Information and Make them Contractually Binding

On 21 January 2025, the Development Bureau (DEVB) issued a Technical Circular (Works) No. 1/2025 on the Adoption of BIM for Capital Works Projects in Hong Kong.

On 21 January 2025, the Development Bureau (DEVB) issued a Technical Circular (Works) No. 1/2025 on the Adoption of BIM for Capital Works Projects in Hong Kong.

 

Superseding DEVB TC(W) No. 2/2021, this Circular provides overall updates on the implementation requirements for BIM adoption, especially on stipulating the requirements and implementation of including BIM models as part of tender information and make them contractually binding, with a view to further uplifting the quality of BIM models and effectiveness in BIM adoption.

 

This Circular takes effect on 1 February 2025.

On 23 December 2020, the Development Bureau (DEVB) issued a Technical Circular (Works) No. 12/2020 on the Adoption of BIM for Capital Works Projects in Hong Kong.

 

Superseding DEVB TC(W) No. 9/2019, this Circular enhances the implementation requirements for BIM adoption in response to WDs' feedback and extends the scope of mandatory BIM uses relating to asset management (7-D), surveying of underground utilities, engineering analysis, 3-D control and planning, etc. so as to further foster adoption of BIM technology in public works projects. 

 

CIC-Certified BIM Coordinator (CCBC) is one of the options that fulfills the requirements of a BIM Coordinator.


This Circular takes effect on 1 January 2021.
