CIC Webinar on BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes (BIMCAS) – Enhance your knowledge about COBie and openBIM

23/07/2024 | 15:30 - 17:00

After the launch of the Certification of BIM Managers (CCBM) and Certification of BIM Coordinators (CCBC) under the CIC BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes (the Schemes) in 2019 and 2020 respectively, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) has certified 668 CCBMs and 812 CCBCs as of 31 May 2024. There are currently 306 CIC-Certified BIM Coordinator (Associate), CCBC(A), registered under the Schemes. Interested BIM practitioners are highly encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible as the application deadline of CCBC(A) will be expired by 21 March 2025. In this webinar, CIC has invited two BIM experts who are also our BIMCAS assessors to share their professional knowledge about Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) and openBIM. They will highlight the areas that candidates need to know for career development as well as for the certification interview. You are cordially invited to attend the webinar to prepare for certification under the Schemes. Webinar Highlights The Latest Updates of the BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes (BIMCAS) Key Statistics Tips about Application Submissions for CCBM, CCBC and CCBC(A) and Interview Assessment Featured topic 1: Gain the Full Information Value from Understanding COBie and Related Processes Featured topic 2: How open is openBIM? Speakers:- Mr. Sunny CHOI, Manager – Industry Development, Construction Industry Council - Mr. Felix CHAN, Founder, Summit Technology (HK) Limited Mr. Felix CHAN is a firm believer in BIM's potential in advancing the design, construction and O&M practices in Hong Kong and abroad. He is also a strong advocate for BIM culture in projects with diverse clients and in providing BIM consultancy, training, development of BIM standards, technical support and research and development. Looking forward from BIM to openBIM is another mission in Felix's BIM roadmap and he believes that openBIM is leading the second information technology wave to the industry. - Mr. KWOK Tak Wai, Head of BIM, ATAL Engineering Group Mr. KWOK Tak Wai is the Head of BIM at ATAL Engineering Group, where he plays a pivotal role in implementing BIM with engineering analysis and leading the development of digital MEP construction across Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China. With over a decade of experience, he has dedicated himself to researching, analysing, and reviewing BIM technologies and services, successfully establishing practical BIM engineering workflows. Mr. KWOK's extensive expertise has enabled him to apply BIM technologies to numerous Building Services engineering projects. Specializing in MEP information management, he is highly regarded for his ability to optimize and automate MEP design processes. - Mr. Kevin WONG, Director, CivilConnect Limited Mr. Kevin WONG is a strong advocate for openBIM, promoting interoperability and collaboration across the industry. He has served as the Immediate-past Chairman of HKIBIM, Voluntary Assessor for Certified BIM Manager, Board Member of the COM-BIM (Construction Digitalisation) Committee in CIC, and Director of HKABAEIMA (buildingSMART International Hong Kong, China Chapter) for openBIM. Being a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) and CIC-Certified BIM Manager (CCBM), Kevin combines engineering design expertise with advanced BIM software applications, ensuring seamless project execution from inception to handover through an integrated design approach. An electronic copy of CPD attendance certificate will be issued to participants with over 80% attendance within one month after the live webinar. Digital Twin Awareness Seminar and Workshop

25/07/2024 | 14:30-17:30

To further accelerate construction digitalisation and promote the use of digital twin in the construction industry, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) has recently established the CIC Digital Twin Hub at MegaBox Kowloon Bay. A digital twin is a virtual representation of real-world entities and processes, synchronised at a specified frequency and fidelity. This brand-new seminar and workshop are designed to provide participants with an understanding of the concept of digital twin, its benefits and applications at different stages of the project lifecycle. Digital Twin Awareness Seminar and Workshop Guided Tour - real-life applications of Digital Twin technology and technology showcases of Smart Site Safety System (SSSS) Seminar - preparation for BIM adoption in project and organisation Hands-on Workshop - BIM viewer training (Remarks: More identical seminars will be organized in the coming months.) This event is suitable for anyone interested in learning about Digital Twin technology. Join us for the Digital Twin Awareness Seminar and Workshop and stay ahead of the curve in the ever-evolving construction industry. Participating in this event counts for 3 CPD hours. The e-Certificate of Attendance will be sent via email to participants within one month following the event. We will use the name on registration form to issue the attendance certificate. Enquiries: Please contact Ms. Choi at 2100 9034 or email to bim@cic.hk. Thank you.

Webinar for "Plug-in Tools for Floor Areas Calculation Checking in General Building Plan (GBP) Submission using BIM"

31/07/2024 | 15:30 - 16:30

To facilitate checking of different floor areas in digital general building plans (GBP) in Building Information Modelling (BIM) format, the Buildings Department (BD) and the Lands Department (LandsD) have jointly commissioned a consultant to develop a common area calculation methodology and plug-in tools of two native BIM software (i.e. REVIT and ArchiCAD) to streamline the data extraction and conduct automated checking of floor areas against the requirements under the Buildings Ordinance and lease conditions (the Area Tool*).The Area Tool, which may also serve as a design review tool, saves time and manpower in verifying numerical accuracy and in updating and rechecking when amendments to the design are required, thereby enhancing quality and certainty of the submissions. In this webinar, representatives from BD and LandsD will brief you on the key features of the Area Tool and demonstrate how the created automation could make the complicated calculation process easy, dispensing with going through a mountain of detailed requirements in regulations/practice notes. They will also introduce the Area Tool's smart functions for automated parameter input, data quality check and batch import of computation results to facilitate the preparation of calculation sheets for GBP submission.Members with job duties involving GBP submission to BD and LandsD should not miss this opportunity to equip yourself with better knowledge on this newly developed BIM Area Tool. *The Area Tool is available in BD Website and LandsD Website for free download and use. Attendees are encouraged to download the tool and template for trial and view the relevant video guides before the webinar. Speakers: Representatives from Buildings Department and the Lands Department Should you have any queries, please contact Mr. FUNG (email: dthub@cic.hk). Remarks: An electronic copy of CPD attendance certificate will be issued to participants with over 80% attendance within one month after the live webinar. Any attendance on replay sessions after webinar will not be considered for CPD attendance certificate. Replay video is now exclusive for i-Club members, please click here to join i-Club.
