CIC Power Talk: Women in Construction

06/08/2021 | 16:00 – 17:00

Construction has traditionally been a male-dominated industry. Misconceptions about gender specific roles are gradually diminishing with a growing number of women choosing a career in construction in Hong Kong and worldwide. In this episode of the CIC Power Talk, we have invited three speakers who have made significant contribution and exerted a positive influence in our industry: Ar. Winnie HO, Director of Architectural Services, Ms. Alice PANG, Director of Drainage Services and Ms. Rosana WONG, Executive Director of Yau Lee Holdings Limited. They will share the challenges they have faced and the insights from their experience. A workplace with diversity is an asset to any industry. Facing the rapid development of the construction industry and an increase in training and job opportunities, the speakers will also give their views on the areas of work in which a woman could particularly contribute well and make career progression. Speakers: Ar. Winnie HO, Director of Architectural Services Ms. Alice PANG, Director of Drainage Services Ms. Rosana WONG, Executive Director of Yau Lee Holdings Limited Moderator: Ir Dr. Richard PANG, Director - Industry Development of Construction Industry Council Remarks: An electronic copy of CPD attendance certificate will be issued to participants with over 80% attendance. It will be sent within one month after the live webinar. Any attendance on replay sessions after the live webinar will not be considered for CPD attendance certificate. How to design spatial layouts that take into account social distancing of different values in different buildings. Discover the fundamental principles of the spatial relationships of passageways and doors to ensure safe distancing. How to transfer your Revit model into a people-movement simulation package to simulate pedestrian flow. Speakers: Ms. Carol POON, Technical Manager, AEC Industry, Autodesk Mr. Ken LEE, Technical Manager, Synnex Technology Int'l (HK) Ltd An electronic copy of CPD attendance certificate will be issued to qualified participants after the workshop. BIM Solution Day

CIC Webinar on BIM Solution Day (Glodon - Hong Kong) - Enhance Construction Productivity by 5DBIM with E-tender & Lightweight CDE Platform

11/08/2021 | 15:30 – 17:00

The "BIM Solution Day" aims at promoting the latest BIM-related solutions to stakeholders. Every time, we have a different theme to introduce stakeholders about the latest solutions in a particular area. We are glad to have the participation of Glodon (Hong Kong). Content of the webinar: Section one - Cubicost - The True BIM QTO Solution and the Possibility of E-tendering with BIM The brand-new solutions of Cubicost TIO enables direct import of Revit models for QTO purpose. With embedded calculation rules and flexible adjustments (local SMM series), it can fit all project requirements for both general and local private sector. Strong compatibility allowing import of Revit models from 2014 to 2021 version, greatly enhance the productivity by better file management and lower cost for BIM software purchase. And the possibility to integrate with the tendering platform shows the great potential to align with DEVB’s Technical Circular in terms of the "ultimate goal" of E-tendering of BIM. Section Two: The Lightweight CDE Platform Provided by Glodon Aligning with the CIC BIM Standard and Allowing Private Cloud Deployment The CDE platform provided by Glodon supports light-weighting of cost BIM model for instant review anytime, anywhere. Live quantity report facilitates the detailed quantity check. Add marks and comments on models directly to better communicate with different parties to achieve a better construction quality with fewer rework and lower construction cost. Speaker: Ms. Katie CHEN, Senior Account Manager of Glodon (Hong Kong) Remarks: An electronic copy of CPD attendance certificate will be issued to participants with over 80% attendance within one month after the live webinar.
