After the launch of the Certification of BIM Managers (CCBM) and Certification of BIM Coordinators (CCBC) under the CIC BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes (the Schemes) in 2019 and 2020 respectively, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) has certified 668 CCBMs and 812 CCBCs as of 31 May 2024. There are currently 306 CIC-Certified BIM Coordinator (Associate), CCBC(A), registered under the Schemes. Interested BIM practitioners are highly encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible as the application deadline of CCBC(A) will be expired by 21 March 2025. “Reference Material of BIM Harmonisation for Digital Hong Kong” aims to identify appropriate additional information requirements of BIM models for reference by the industry, and in support of Government’s initiative of developing Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) and Smart City and to satisfy the use cases identified in the Report on 3D Spatial and BIM Data Use Case Requirements of the Hong Kong Construction Industry published by the CIC in 2021. The Construction Industry Council (CIC) has been organising the CIC BIM Competition annually since 2019, providing an excellent platform for the younger generation to enhance their knowledge and skills in BIM and showcase their talent. The competition aims to promote the practical use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) through a collaborative and competitive learning approach among tertiary students in construction-related disciplines. Now in its sixth year, "CIC BIM Competition 2024" aims to challenge participants' creativity and innovation in designing a CIC Innovation Academy and applying BIM technologies. The competition is open to full-time higher education (post-secondary) students and part-time students pursuing top-up degrees. Teams must be formed with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 members from at least 2 construction disciplines.
