The CIC BIM Competition aims to promote the practical use of BIM through collaborative and competitive learning approach among tertiary students in construction related disciplines. Continuing to encourage the wide adoption of BIM, the CIC held its forth BIM Competition this year which was successfully concluded in June. In this webinar, the awardees of the CIC BIM Competition 2022 will be presenting their work and showcase how they develop transitional housing for a proposed site using BIM for planning and design of modular housing which can be reused / relocated to other sites. The presentation of the awardees will allow the audience to understand more about the innovative ideas of the youngsters. They will also be sharing with the audience how they use BIM technology and the challenges during this competition. The Construction Industry Council (CIC) organises "CIC BIM Competition" for the forth year in 2022, aiming to promote the practical uses of Building Information Modelling (BIM) through collaborative and competitive learning approach among tertiary students in construction related disciplines. The competition is eligible to full-time tertiary (post-secondary) students in forming up a team of three to five members from minimum two construction disciplines. The competition will run in two rounds. The theme of this year is 'Modularity & Adaptability in Transitional Housing Design with Use of BIM'. Participants are given project design requirements to develop transitional housing for a proposed site using BIM for planning and design of modular housing which can be reused / relocated to other sites in the 1st round of submission. Upon receipt of their submissions, our judging panel, a collective group of renowned professionals in the field of BIM, will select ten finalist teams to enter into the 2nd round of competition. The finalist teams will be required to make amendments on the 1st round of submission onsite within 12 hours and conduct presentation to judging panel on the next day. This competition provides an excellent platform to reveal the potential of the new generation to demonstrate their BIM skills. The Competition was run in two rounds. Each articipating team was required to develop transitional housing for a proposed site using BIM for planning and design of modular housing which can be reused / relocated to other sites in the 1st round competition. The modular units would be stacked two to four storeys on the Site. Other supporting facilities, such as activity rooms, ancillary communal facilities and management office, together with landscape area are to be provided on promoting better quality of living in the transitional housing. The judging panel, a collective group of renowned professionals in the field of BIM, reviewed all submissions and selected ten finalist teams to enter into the 2nd round of Competition. The finalist teams were required to make amendments on their 1st round of submissions on-site based on new requirements within 12 hours and conducted a presentation to judging panel on the next day.
