New Generation map data, including 3D Pedestrian Network, 3D Visualisation Map and Map Application Programming Interface (Map API) services, from the Lands Department (LandsD) have been available on the Public Sector Information Portal and the Hong Kong GeoData Store since 3 Dec 2020. They enable the industry to conduct construction-related applications by providing the latest mapping data in Hong Kong. Construction industry is able to use the 3D data and Map API for different geographic analysis and evaluations in different construction stage, including traffic noise assessment, visibility analysis, 3D visualisation of pedestrian routes or study on pedestrian access. On the other hand, LandsD Map API enables the industry to conveniently access topographic map, imagery map and other location information through HTTP requests. It significantly reduces time and efforts required in processing the raw map data as compared with the traditional way.
